Based on the article from Philippines’ Ultimate Showbiz Hub, the actor politician and his wife were not mindful of the negative reactions because of their political beliefs.

Nakita ko kasi na ganun talaga ang last election e. Kaya maaga pa lang sinuportahan ko na talaga si BBM. Sabi ko nga ‘wag niyo na kami i-bash kasi it’s an election exercise. And with that, bumaba ang basher namin,” Richard Gomez explained.

Meanwhile, now that he is a lawmaker, Gomez said that he wants to help the entertainment industry. He said that he has seen old movies that were not restored and less attention is given to this aspect.

With this, he said that it is important to make a film archive from government funds. Gomez also wanted that ABS-CBN’s Sagip Pelikula initiative inspired him to have the same cause of saving the old Filipino movies.

“I would say na isa ako sa masusuwerteng mga artista na nakagawa ng pelikula, kasama ang mahuhusay na mga direktor at mga naging national artist sina Ricky Lee, sina Tony Mabesa, ilang beses ko nakasama ‘yan, si Marilou Abaya,” the actor-politician said as he is also aiming to see his old movies.

When asked if he will return to acting, Richard Gomez said that it would be difficult but he can find ways just like when he did the movie Three Words to Forever with Sharon Cuneta in which 90 percent of the movie was shot in Ormoc.
