Devotees Visit Image of Virgin Mary That Allegedly Appeared in Corn at Iligan City
The image of the Virgin Mary has allegedly appeared in corn at Iligan City, the experts and Church officials expressed their reactions.
Numerous devotees from different areas were visiting and praying on corn in Iligan City. According to the residents, the corn contains the image of the Virgin Mary and can allegedly perform miraculous signs.
The image has been placed inside a glass box in the chapel. A Church staff named Virginia Ancho is the current caretaker of the image after the one who found the crop identified as Nanay Barita passed away.
Napagdesisyunan naming lahat, pati pamilya nila, pagawaan diyan ng altar,” Ancho said.
Virginia and other residents decided to place the image near her home. She also narrated that Nanay Barita found the alleged miraculous corn on August 1, 2001, which gives inspiration to the residents.
A believer named Eden Barita said that some people who have selfish motives tried to steal the image from the village.
A science crop expert named Dr. Lolita Beato believes that the image is a possible result of human manipulation. She also explained that there is no corn variety containing an image of the Virgin Mary.
