Is it really a cellphone? Archie Alemania caught netizens attention due to this
Comedian-actor Archie Alemania became a trending topic on social media just recently because of a “cellphone” inside his pocket in the movie Heneral Luna.
The said movie featuring award-winning actor John Arcilla as Gen. Antonio Luna is one of the critically acclaimed historical movie in the Philippines. This film also featured prominent actors like Mon Confiado, Paulo Avelino, Epy Quizon, Arron Villaflor, and Nonie Biencamino.
Aside from how the story was presented, the audience also lauded the performances of the cast members. The movie was released in 2015 but recently, it captured the attention of the online community.
It was because of the Facebook post Rainier G. de Jesus. The netizen shared a screenshot of the scene in which Archie Alemania who played Eduardo Rusca was seen having something inside his pocket which appeared to be a cellphone.
“Matagal na napalabas ang Heneral Luna (2015) pero pinanood ko ulit. Ngayon ko lang napansin na isa sa mga aktor na si Archie Alemania (nakaputing polo) bilang Eduardo Rusca, may (parang cellphone) sa kaniyang bulsa. #cellphonesabulsa,” de Jesus wrote in the caption of his post.
Based on the article in Balita.net.ph, the netizen said that he is unsure if the thing inside the pocket of Archie is indeed a cellphone. He also said that he has seen this in other scenes in the movie.
However, de Jesus said that it looks awkward because the movie was based on the era that mobile phones are not yet available.
Because of this, other netizens have different guesses regarding the thing inside the pocket of Archie Alemania in the movie Heneral Luna. Here are some of the comments.

“I noticed this too when I first watched the movie, but it can also be either a cigar case, liquor flask, pack of cigarettes or notepad/journal which were common in that era.”
