Pinoy Movie “Heneral Luna” Nominated Entry in the 73rd Golden Globe Awards

The Philippines most popular independent film “Heneral Luna” was nominated as one of the 71 entries from 46 countries in one of the world’s most popular award giving body, the 73rd Golden Globe Awards. The movie “Heneral Luna” is gunning for a win in the foreign language film category.

According to Goldent Globe the Top Five nominees will be determined in the next few days as the organizers announced the official nominees of Golden Globe while the awarding ceremony will be held this coming January 10, 2016.

The Jerold Tarug-directed movie featuring John Arcilla as the lead actor is considered as the highest grossing historical movie in the Philippines earning a total of mor than P240 million last October.

The movie “Heneral Luna” is part of a trilogy which will also include a sequel featuring the life story of the country’s youngest general who died fighting for Philippine indepence, the life of Gregorio del Pilar which will be portrayed by Dennis Trillo.

Aside from the Golden Globe Awards nomination of “Heneral Luna,” the movie is also the official entry of the Philippines in the prestigious “Oscars’ Awards” or the Academy Awards in the US for Best Foreign Language film category.
