Caloy also enhances the monsoon trough and the southwest monsoon, which will bring monsoon rains over the western sections of Luzon particularly in Bataan, Zambales, Palawan, Oriental Mindoro, Occidental Mindoro, Aurora and Quezon as well as Visayas.

The monsoon trough and southwest monsoon will bring cloudy weather condition with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Metro Manila, the rest of Luzon, Visayas, and Zamboanga Peninsula.

The southwest monsoon or locally known as “Habagat” will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over the rest of Mindanao.

“Patuloy nitong binabaybay ang West Philippine Sea palabas ng ating area of responsibility. Bagamat malayo na nga ito sa ating kalupaan ay patuloy pa rin nitong pinapalakas ang habagat na magdudulot ng monsoon rains lalong lalo na ‘yan sa kanlurang bahagi ng Luzon at Visayas,” Pagasa weather specialist Grace Castañeda said.

The weather agency has also advised the residents in the affected areas to take precautionary measures for possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains and during severe thunderstorms.

Caloy is expected to leave the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) within 24 hours.

Meanwhile, the coastal water condition over northern and western sections of Luzon will be moderate to rough. The remaining parts of the country will have slight to moderate surrounding sea conditions, according to the weather bureau.
