2 Lady Suspects in Sangla-Kolekta Scam of Condo Units Got Arrested

The Criminal Investigation and Detention Group (CIDG) arrested two lady suspects in “Sangla-Kolekta” scam of condo units.

The CIDG personnel has arrested the two female scammers inside a coffee shop during an entrapment operation. The two were allegedly involved in scamming clients using the “Sangla-Kolekta” modus.

The scammers were currently having a transaction with the victim who has given P300, 000 as the final installment for a condominium unit that was mortgaged for P600, 000.

CIDG-Southern District District Chief Police Major Michael John Villanueva said that the suspects repeatedly perform the same modus operandi to lure their victims. Their modus is called “sangla-kolekta”.

The modus is performed by a certain group offering mortgaged condominium properties to their victims in exchange of P18, 000 each month for a unit.

“Dating nang inireklamo sa Register of Deeds na sinangla pero napagalaman ng biktima na nakasangla na rin sa ibang tao,” Villanueva said.

The group was able to collect around P1.6 million from their victim for one unit. However, the two scammers denied the allegations against them.

“Hindi po talaga ako involved dito, ma’am. Bale may i-meet-up lang daw tapos binigay po ‘yung papers tapos kung alin daw po ang pipirmahan,” suspect Jeanet de Leon said.

The agency said that the suspects have past cases of estafa and a standing warrant of arrest. Complaints are being prepared for the suspects while the authorities are searching
