Rowena Guanzon Defended Her Meeting W/ Martin Romualdez & Sandro Marcos
ROWENA GUANZON – Former Commission on Elections (COMELEC) commissioner Rowena Guanzon defended her meeting with incoming Ilocos Norte lawmaker Sandro Marcos and Leyte 1st District Rep. Martin Romualdez.
Rowena Guanzon retired from her post in the COMELEC last year. She made rounds on social media after she made some revelations over the consolidated cases seeking to disqualify Bongbong Marcos from the presidential race in the 2022 election.
The 64-year-old lawyer had actively campaigned for VP Leni Robredo and was a constant fixture in her rallies around the country. She even did the “ngiwi challenge” as an attack against Bongbong. BBM won by landslide with a huge vote difference compared to Robredo.
The supporters of VP Leni dissed Rowena Guanzon for shaking hands with BBM’s son Sandro Marcos at a gathering of party-list lawmakers. A photo shared by Lakas-CMD showed Sandro shaking Rowena’s hand at a lunch meeting of the Party-list Coalition Foundation Inc.
She immediately reacted to the backlash. She clarified that she was only there as a guest. She said the P3PWD party-list needs to work with other lawmakers. Guanzon is reportedly set to become the first nominee of the party-list, which won one seat in the House of Representatives for the 19th Congress.
“Mga [a]nak, wala tayong mapapasang batas and budget para sa mga PWD kung hindi tayo magtratrabaho with them. Hindi puwedeng kontra lang nang kontra,” she said in Facebook post.
Rowena Guanzon said she will not hesitate to call out anomalies in the incoming administration. She said, “suportahan natin ang magagandang programa pero hindi magdadalawang isip na batikusin ang mali. Wala akong utang na loob sa kanila, kayo ang nagluklok sa akin dito.”
