Alleged Abu Sayyaf Member Denies Accusation After Arrested in Quezon City

The operatives of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) arrested an alleged Abu Sayyaf member who denied the accusations against him.

Albazir Abdulla, an alleged member of the Abu Sayyaf group, was captured by the NBI and armed personnel in Quezon City. Abdulla was apprehended after the National Bureau of Investigation obtained a warrant for his arrest.

According to the newspaper, the suspect is facing kidnapping charges for his suspected role in the kidnapping of many Golden Harvest Plantation employees in Basilan in 2001. Abdulla has denied being a member of the terrorist organization.

“Hindi talaga ako Abu Sayyaf. Wala akong alam diyan sa pang-ki-kidnap na ‘yan,” he said.

Meanwhile, Atty. Gregorio Zuiga of the National Bureau of Investigation’s counter-terrorism division stated they had evidence that he is a member of the ASG. He claimed that the terrorist cell is still operational and that they are resting in Metro Manila, but that they will return to Mindanao if they have a task.

Meanwhile, four alleged New People’s Army (NPA) militants were killed in an armed engagement with police and military personnel in Western Visayas on Tuesday. In Negross Occidental, an unknown number of armed rebels engaged in hour-long combat with government forces, according to the PNP.

Four insurgents were killed, and two more were injured. According to the PNP, their companions abandoned them. On the government’s side, no injuries were reported. Four long guns were also retrieved by the PNP forces.
