The political adviser of President Rodrigo Duterte urged him to endorse Bongbong Marcos, the presidential aspirant who has been leading the surveys.
As of this writing, the Chief Executive has not formally announced if to who among the presidential candidate will have his support. However, the ruling PDP-Laban has officially endorsed the candidacy of Marcos.
BBM’s running mate Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte has confirmed also that the President and UniTeam’s presidential bet met last weekend. However, the vice-presidential aspirant has not confirmed if that meeting was for the President’s endorsement.
Based on the report from Inquirer, presidential adviser for political affairs Jacinto Paras told President Rodrigo Duterte to endorse Bongbong Marcos. “I believe that Marcos is a very loyal friend. I would certainly believe that Marcos would remain loyal to the President even if he becomes President,” the political adviser said.
Paras added that just like what happened to past presidents of the Philippines, it is more likely that critics of PRRD “would come up with trumped-up charges” as well, especially those who want to push the ICC (International Criminal Court) cases.
“The President needs allies, especially from the new administration, I certainly believe that among the candidates, Bongbong Marcos would be the best who would be able to protect him,” the presidential adviser said.
Paras added that if the President will endorse Bongbong Marcos, this will ensure a good sleep because he is under the administration of a “good friend and a loyal president, rather than being haunted by enemies.”
With this, Paras said that he is appealing to President Duterte, as a political adviser, that these reasons are compelling for him to endorse the presidential candidate of the UniTeam.
