PDP-Laban has chosen Bongbong Marcos
UniTeam’s presidential candidate Bongbong Marcos gained the endorsement of the ruling party PDP-Laban wing under Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi that is being supported by President Rodrigo Duterte.
Earlier this year, the ruling party has adopted Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte as the vice-presidential bet. Based on the report from Manila Standard, the PDP-Laban has released Resolution No. 26, Series of 2022 of its National Executive Committee declaring the party’s support for the presidential candidacy of Marcos.
The ruling party believes that Bongbong Marcos, who is leading most presidential surveys, is the candidate who has a platform that is more aligned with the development program started by the administration of President Duterte.
PDP-Laban also stated that Marcos gained “most endorsements from several local councils of PDP Laban” that included Ilocos Sur, La Union, Bataan, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, Zambales, Batangas, Laguna, Quezon, Rizal, Oriental Mindoro, Camarines Norte, Masbate, Aklan, Negros Occidental, Leyte, Southern Leyte, Zamboanga del Sur, Davao del Sur, North Cotabato, Caloocan City, Malabon City, Mandaluyong City, Pasay City, Paranaque City, San Juan City, Valenzuela City, Malolos City, Ormoc City and San Pedro City,
“Whereas, to promote “Unity for Sustainability” of socio-economic development and national progress… Resolved, as it is hereby resolved, after careful and exhaustive deliberations the National Executive Committee endorses the candidacy of Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. for President of the Republic of the Philippines in the forthcoming 2022 National Elections,” the resolution stated.
Reportedly, Cusi, PDP-Laban Secretary General Melvin Matibag, Senator Bong Go, and 11 other officials of the ruling party signed the resolution.
Previously, the political parties of former presidents Fidel Ramos, Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, and Joseph Estrada, have expressed their support for the tandem of Bongbong Marcos and Sara Duterte.
