Young Man Dies After Drowning at Resort’s Swimming Pool in Pasay City
DROWNING INCIDENT – A young man passed away after drowning at a swimming pool of resort in Pasay City.
A 26-year-old guy named Kevin Briones died after drowning a swimming pool of a resort in Pasay City. The incident has been caught on CCTV camera and no one noticed the victim seeking help while drowning.
In the video, it can be seen that the victim dive into the swimming pool and stopped in the middle. The latter drowned and tried to save himself and seeks help from other guests in the resort.
Unfortunately, no one noticed Briones who was struggling to survive during that time, according to Malibay Substation deputy station commander Police Lieutenant Alexander Macarunay.
“Parang kumakaway siya pero ‘di pinapansin. Akala siguro nila parang lumalangoy lang din kaya ‘di pinansin, At siguro ang mistake ng tao diyan ‘pag pumunta ka sa pool, marunong kang lumangoy supposedly,” dagdag niya,” Macarunay said.
According to the friends of Kevin, the victim even drinks alcoholic beverages before diving into the pool. The young man also stated that there is no lifeguard on duty during the incident.
After an hour, the guy’s remain was found at the deeper part of the swimming pool. Three resort staff performed a cardiopulmonary resuscitation or CPR to revive the victim but Kevin did not make it.
“Hindi mangyayari sana ‘yon kung naisalba ang kapatid ko. Kung may nakabantay sana, hindi mangyayari,” Kevin’s sister Lyka Briones said.
Gloria Briones, the victim’s mother revealed that Kevin is the breadwinner of their family. She expressed her grief and disappointment due to the incident. “Sobrang hirap tanggapin kasi ‘yung mga kasama niya nakatayo na. Tapos ‘yung anak ko nakabulagta. Sobrang hirap tanggapin talaga,” Gloria said.
However, the resort refused to give a statement regarding the incident. The resort has also suspend their operations to give way for the investigation.
