Police Arrest Former Cop in Davao City Over Alleged Extortion Charges
A former cop in Davao City identified as Jenlee Corpuz has been arrested by the authorities over extortion charges.
Over the past few decades, corruption has been one of the major problems not only in the Philippines but also in various regions all around the world. It causes a negative impact to the country’s image and economy.
The Philippine government has been already exerting effort and taking immediate action to prevent such acts but corruption still exist. Greedy officials and public servants are the most involved in some corruption acts including extortion.
Anyone who will be caught committing such act will be subject for corresponding sanctions and penalties.
Last Friday (March 11, 2022), the police authorities launched an operation against PO2 Jenlee Corpuz after receiving complaints from the victims. The cop reportedly accepts cash payment from the applicants in PNP Davao Region.
According to the victims, Corpuz is taking the recruitment fee from the PNP applicants in Davao Region. The suspect reportedly collected about P75,000 after assuring that applicants can secure a spot without following the respective process.

Corpuz has been allegedly dismissed from his post way back in 2018 for grave misconduct and misappropriation.
The Davao Police Regional Office warned the applicants regarding similar modus. The authorities also advised the applicants to undergo the legitimate process to avoid further troubles in the future.
