Even before Arjo announced that he would compete for Congress, there were people who said that they were simply hanging to Maine because they no longer had a job, according to the veteran actress. Bashers also alleged that Sylvia’s family was after Maine’s money, according to Sylvia.
“Sa totoo lang, hiyang-hiya si Maine,” said Sylvia. “Nagso-sorry, sabi niya, ‘Tita, I’m sorry’. Kasi yun nga, sinasabi na ginagamit. Ang habol daw namin kay Maine yung milyon niya, yung pera niya, yung McDo niya,” she added.
Sylvia is already rich, according to Ogie. Maine should not apologize to them for Sylvia because she is not the one who is slandering them. Maine was supposedly consoled by her, and she informed her that just being there is enough to make them happy.
“Sinasabi ko kay Maine, ‘Maine, hindi ikaw ang namba-bash. Hindi ikaw ang naninira, at hindi ganun ang paniniwala mo sa’min. So kay na kami dun, masaya na kami,’” Sylvia said.
They don’t care what people say, says the experienced actor, because the essential thing is their organization, and Maine understands Arjo’s real intentions for her. She didn’t want Maine to be mentioned in the campaigns, she claimed because she wanted to preserve it.
She also doesn’t want it to be said that he only won because of Maine, rather than his work and willingness to sacrifice for the people he will represent. Arjo is presently running for Congress in Quezon City’s District 1.
