Former Sen. Bongbong Marcos Speaks Stand on Public Disclosure of SALN
BONGBONG MARCOS – The Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP) presidential bet changed his stand with regards to disclosing his Statements of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth (SALN) to the public if he wins president.
As the May 2022 Election draws near, interviews of presidential candidates have started happening and they are aired on television and online platforms. There are ten (10) presidential candidates on the official ballot for the upcoming poll.
Aside from interviews, another thing that many people await is the presidential debate. These can be held by different organizations including media companies. Recently, the Sonshine Media Network International (SMNI) owned by Pastor Apollo Quiboloy organized a debate for the presidential bets.
The SMNI debate invitation was not accepted by four (4) presidential bets for various reasons. Former Senator Bongbong Marcos Jr. and labor leader Ka Leody de Guzman are those who accepted the invitation.
Marcos Jr. is the standard-bearer of Partido Federal ng Pilipinas. He is leading the surveys for preference for president in the May 2022 Election.
Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, during the SMNI debate, former Sen. Bongbong Marcos said that he is willing to disclose his SALN to the public if he wins president in the upcoming election. According to him, it is not a problem for him although he was not releasing his SALN for the past six (6) years.
Previously, Marcos Jr. expressed unwillingness to release his SALN to the public. He agreed to disclose it to the authorities but stressed that he won’t release it if it would be used for politicking.
Despite his current stand now of being willing to disclose his SALN to the public, Marcos Jr. stressed that the decision to release the SALN to the SALN still lies with an elected official of the government.
