Bongbong Marcos Jr Won’t Join Debates to Avoid Pit with Contenders
Presidential aspirant Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr will not join debates and forums if it would only cause a fight among presidential contenders.
The camp of the former senator competing for the highest office has stated that he would not participate in presidential debates that only caught fighting. Vic Rodriguez, Marcos’ lawyer, said they would first look at the show’s concept to see whether he would participate.

Rodriguez emphasized that they are not avoiding these platforms; rather, they only want to participate in discussions about solutions to the country’s problems. Filipinos are tired of fighting politicians, and if the forum is solely going to be candidates bickering with each other, Rodriguez indicated in an interview that he would not participate.
Rodriguez compared it to a job interview, saying that when applicants are “applying” for the highest government post, they should not be “debating” during the interview. You will allow yourself to be interviewed and let your superiors or management to select the best candidates and make the final decision, he added.
“To my mind, sinasabi niyo sila ay mga applicant for the highest position in the land, president. It should be a presidential interview other than a debate,” he said.
Marcos had opted out of a presidential interview with renowned GMA Network journalist Jessica Soho, as well as a presidential forum hosted by the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas (KBP). People assumed he was a coward since he didn’t show up for the interviews.
