Cristy Fermin shared that this is what happened between Willie Revillame and GMA-7
Wowowin host Willie Revillame turned down the offer from GMA-7 to renew his contracts, veteran entertainment report Cristy Fermin revealed.
The rumored network transfer of Kuya Wil has been one of the hot showbiz topics these past days. GMA has released a statement saying that the last episode of Willie’s show will be aired on February 11 as his contract with the network has already ended on the 15th of last month.
Previously, veteran entertainment columnist Lolit Solis said in her writeup that GMA decided not to renew its contract with Willie Revillame. She also said that the Kapuso network did not offer any project to the veteran host.
With this, it is being speculated that Kuya Wil will be part of the Advanced Media Broadcasting System Inc. of billionaire businessman Manny Villar that acquired the frequencies of ABS-CBN.
However, in a recent episode of Crity Fermin’s talk show, based on the article in Manila Bulletin, she said that there was an offer for Kuya Wil to renew his contract with GMA. However, the veteran host turned it down.
“Nagsabi din naman siyang mag-e-extend siya (ng kontrata) with GMA. Noong Enero nga e, pipirma na talaga dapat siya. Nakahanda ang papel pero hindi ito natuloy,” Cristy said.
Supposedly, the reason that Willie said was, “Wala akong pahinga.” The veteran showbiz reporter said that the game show host has been very busy even amid the pandemic as he wanted to continue the show to the point of using several locations.
“Hindi totoo na hindi ni-renew ng GMA ang kontrata, matagal ng kasado ang kontrata, si Willie ang hindi pumirma,” Cristy Fermin said.
However, she said that there was no conflict between Willie Revillame and the management of GMA-7. Cristy said that Kuya Wil personally wrote a letter to GMA Network CEO Atty. Felipe Gozon regarding this. “Nagbigay siya ng pasasalamat at respeto dito,” the showbiz reporter said.
