CARLOS ANGELES BIOGRAPHY – This is the biography and life story of famous Filipino poet Carlos A. Angeles who created “A Bruise Of Brushes”.

Filipino poet Carlos A. Angeles was born on May 25, 1921, in Tacloban City in the province of Leyte. He attended Rizal High for his high school and graduated in 1938. For his college education, he attended several institutions such as Ateneo de Manila, the University of the Philippines, and Central Luzon Colleges. While in UP, he was an active member of the UP Writer’s Club.

His masterpiece called “A Stun Of Jewels”, is a collection of 47 poems that is award-winning. It gained the highest honor at the Carlos Palanca Memorial Awards for Literature when it included Poetry for the first time which was in 1964.

In the same said year, the same poetry collection was recognized and awarded Republic Cultural Heritage Award for Literature. In 1993, he did “A Bruise of Ashes” published by the Ateneo University Press.

He is married to Concepcion Reynoso, the person he is dedicating his “A Stun Of Jewels” to. They’ve had seven children and moved to live in the USA since 1978. Aside from being a poet, he also worked at the Philippine Bureau of International News Service from 1950 to 1958.

He was also a guest of the US State Department on a Smith-Mundt leader grant, and a press assistant during the Garcia administration. He was also a public relations manager of PanAm Airlines from 1958 to 1980 and one of the board of directors of International PEN, Philippine chapter.
