Comelec Commissioner Guanzon Speaks on Tax Issue of former Sen. Bongbong Marcos

COMELEC – Commission on Elections Commissioner Rowena Guanzon stressed that former Senator Bongbong Marcos was convicted twice and cannot run for president.

One of the current issues that are taking the social media platforms by storm is the revealed vote of Comelec Commissioner Rowena Guanzon on the three (3) consolidated petitions seeking to disqualify former Sen. Bongbong Marcos from the presidential race.

According to Guanzon, she and the other board members have allegedly agreed to release the decision by January 17. She admitted that she believes there is a hand interfering that allegedly caused the delay in the release of the resolution. The Commissioner revealed that she voted for the disqualification of Marcos Jr.

The camp of Marcos Jr. was quick to react to the revelations and claims of Comelec Commissioner Rowena Guanzon. The legal counsel of Partido Federal ng Pilipinas, George Briones, wants the Commissioner investigated, disbarred, and her retirement benefits forfeited.

Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, Comelec Commissioner Rowena Guanzon stressed that former Senator Bongbong Marcos cannot run for president as he was convicted of tax evasion charges twice. According to her, the PFP standard-bearer was convicted in the regional trial court and in the Court of Appeals.

Guanzon also recalled the recent incident when an 80-year-old man was arrested for allegedly stealing kilos of mangoes and was charged for a crime with moral turpitude.

“Di ka nag-file ng income tax return apat na beses bilang gobernador ng Ilocos at ang presidente at diktador ay ama mo? Hindi pa ‘yun moral turpitude?” the Commissioner said based on the report.

Furthermore, Guanzon claimed that Marcos Jr. did not even bother to pay the fines after he was convicted. According to her, she cannot find any legal justification for the actions of the former Senator.
