BONGBONG MARCOS – Presidential aspirant and former Senator Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is open to appointing family members and relatives in his cabinet if he wins in the Election 2022.
Less than four (4) months from now, another national election is set to take place in the Philippines. According to the Commission on Elections (Comelec), currently, there are ten (10) names that remain in the official ballot for the presidential race.
One of the presidential candidates in the upcoming poll is former Sen. Bongbong Marcos. In 2016, he sought the vice-presidential position but he lost to Vice Pres. Leni Robredo. He filed electoral protests but the court sided with the victory of Robredo.
Running for the highest position in the government, Marcos Jr. is the standard-bearer of Partido Federal ng Pilipinas. He is the leading candidate in online surveys.
Recently, former Sen. Bongbong Marcos agreed to an interview with DZRH-Manila Times. During the said interview, he admitted his openness to appointing family members and relatives in his Cabinet if he wins president in the Election 2022.
Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, Marcos Jr. stressed that he is open to appointing the people from his own family or related to him provided that they are the best in their field. He emphasized that performance in the field is the criteria in choosing.
According to the PFP standard-bearer, he will not be appointing people because of their relationship with him. He stressed that he can appoint individuals who are not coming from his party as long as they are excellent in the field and they want to help.
However, based on the report, the Civil Service Commission (CSC) states that it is a violation of the law to appoint family and relatives in government positions.
