Maris Racal was one of the actresses who auditioned for “Darna”
Actress-singer Maris Racal said that she is happy for Jane de Leon for getting the iconic Pinay superhero role that she auditioned for also.
Fans have waited for a long for the Darna project to push through. It has gone through a lot, from being a movie, it was decided to be a series. A few times, the lead actress and the director also changed.
After Liza Soberano backed out due to her finger injury, ABS-CBN conducted an audition and the role was given to Jane de Leon. During a recent interview, based on the article in PEP, Maris Racal auditioned for the role also.
This was revealed when she mentioned that she dreams of portraying a superhero role. “Hala! Haha! Lahat naman ata dumaan, parang ipina-try,” she said referring to other actresses handled by Star Magic, the talent management firm of the Kapamilya network.
“Oo, super dami naming nag-audition. Marami!” she further revealed but she refused to divulge the name of other actresses who auditioned. “I’m not sure, ayoko na mag-tell. Hanggang doon lang,” Maris said.
The actress-singer also shared that she tried the Darna costume and it was a fun experience for her. “Na-enjoy ko siya kasi exciting iyong fact na nagau-audition ka for Darna, iyong lines, iyong rush na nag-au-audition ka,” she said.
Maris also said that those kinds of moments should be enjoyed and she just did what she was told to do. She also said that she is “super happy” for Jane de Leon, the chosen actress to be the next Darna.
Meanwhile, Maris Racal released her new single Pumila Ka just recently. It is under Balcony Entertainment, the record label of her boyfriend singer-songwriter Rico Blanco.
