Joey de Leon, Vic, and Tito Sotto talked about the staying power of Eat Bulaga
Four decades have passed but Eat Bulaga remained a favorite companion of many viewers in the country and abroad every lunchtime. Many shows have already attempted to overpower the Dabarkads but the Kapuso noontime show reigned.
In a recent interview, based on the article in The Philippine Star, Tito Sotto or Tito Sen shared that he thinks knowing the pulse of the viewers is a vital thing in a long-lasting show. “Kung ano yung di nila gusto at gusto nila, merong mga portions, mga comic relief na hindi patok at patok,” the Senate President said adding that they are lucky to have production staff, especially writers who also know the pulse of the viewers.
Joey de Leon said that aside from “pulso”, there is also “puso” in what they do. “Nasasakyan namin siguro… ibig sabihin hindi lang kami Kapuso, kauso, kauso rin. Hindi kami nawala sa panahon, sumasabay kami,” the Henyo Master added.
Tito Sotto also said that being in Eat Bulaga gives him strength. He said that the show has provided laughter and brought people together.
For Vic Sotto, 42 years of being alive on TV, means that they never experienced the word “burn out”. “Di uso ang burn out, hindi namin kilala yung salitang yun,” he said adding that it is because they enjoy what they do and this is the most important for him.
“You enjoy the company of people you’re with, enjoy ka sa mga Dabarkads, araw-araw na nagkikita kayo, nagku-kwentuhan, nag-ka-ka-Maritesan, eh, yun ang malaking bagay kung bakit hindi uso sa amin ang burn out,” Vic said.
The Daddy’s Gurl actor also said that Eat Bulaga has been the base of everyone in the show. Some of them may branch out in other fields, like him in producing content, but they keep on coming back to Eat Bulaga.
