John Prats talked about his friendship with Coco Martin
Actor-director John Prats shared the depth of his friendship with Ang Probinsyano lead actor Coco Martin.
John was previously part of the long-running action-drama series as an actor. However, he is now the director of the top-rated show. Saying yes to the offer to be the director of FPJAP was an immediate response from the former child star.
Based on the article in The Philippine Star, John received this offer late last year. He had to bid goodbye to It’s Showtime becuase of this. At that time, he was also directing the Kapamilya noontime show.
The friendship that John Prats has with Coco Martin is a big factor why he immediately said yes to be the director of Ang Probinsyano.
“Everyone knows that me and Coco, we’re more than friends, not lovers (laughs), but we’re like brothers. First time ko naka-experience ng kaibigan na grabeng magmahal and grabe sumuporta,” he shared.
John also said that when he left AP to be in Showtime, Coco was saddened. “Nung nagkaroon ng pagkakataon na di niya mapigilan — basta nagkaroon ng management decision — he offered me to direct him in Ang Probinsyano,” the actor-director revealed.
John added that Coco has already overloaded tasks in the Kapamilya primetime series. Aside from being the lead actor, Coco is also the creative head and he also does directing.
“Actually, napapabayaan na niya sarili niya. As an actor, nakita ko yung hirap and I didn’t think twice of saying yes,” the former child actor said.
In addition to these reasons, John Prats also stressed the fact that he loves the Ang Probinsyano family. He spent five and a half years being with them. The actor-director also expressed gratitude to the bosses of ABS-CBN for letting him experience being the director of the famous series.
