Japan Vowed to Help PH following Onslaught of Typhoon Odette
JAPAN – The Japanese government pledged to send disaster relief assistance to the Philippines following Typhoon Odette’s onslaught.
The Philippines was greatly affected by the onslaught of Typhoon Odette. Several cities and municipalities in the country were submerged in floodwater due to the typhoon. Many Filipino families also lost their homes.
Forecasts about Odette urged massive preparations prior to the typhoon’s entry into the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR). Preemptive evacuations were also done in areas that are prone to flooding for the safety of the residents.
Typhoon Odette caused lives and damages to properties. Many people lost their houses to the heavy rains, floods, and strong winds brought by the typhoon. Some houses were destroyed after they were hit by falling trees.
A lot of people now were left homeless by Odette. They are staying in evacuation centers or temporary shelters and many of them also lost their source of living. Several known personalities are on the move to help the victims of the typhoon and continue to encourage those who have funds to extend help to the victims.
Foreign governments have also pledged to help the Philippines after Typhoon Odette left several areas in the country devastated. One of these nations is Japan.
Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, Japan assured that they will extend disaster relief assistance to the Philippines such as generators, tents, sleeping pads, plastic sheets, and water containers. Japanese ambassador to the Philippines Koshikawa Kazuhiko said that their country is one with the Philippines in recovering from Odette.
Kazuhiko also sent his prayers for the typhoon victims in the large parts of Visayas and Mindanao. He also expressed his deepest respect “to the brave first responders of the ongoing disaster relief and recovery operations”. Furthermore, he expressed his hope for the safety of everyone.
