Manila Raiding Team Confiscates Products of Street Vendors During Clearing Operation
CLEARING OPERATION – The street vendors wrestled with the raiding team of the Manila local government unit during clearing operation.
The Manila local government unit has deployed Team Hawkers to conduct a clearing operation along Rizal Avenue and Carriedo. The raiding team confiscates the products of the street vendors in the area.
Team Hawkers confiscated the products of vendors exceeding from their designated area. Some vendors were even blocking the right of way, which causes traffic congestion and inconvenience along the road.
The vendors tried to stop and wrestled with the clearing team but they failed to recover their products. Some sellers expressed their disappointment to the incident they are not earning yet.
Several vendors have admitted their mistakes while some of them begged the authorities to return their goods since it is already Christmas Season.
Team Hawkers operations chief Samuel Duenas said that the team has started the clearing operation since last week. He clarified that the government allows vendors to sell at their designated areas.
Unfortunately, most vendors were leaving their designated areas and moved beside the road to attract more customers. They repeatedly warn the vendors but they keep repeating the same violation.
“Pilit silang gumigitna puwede naman sila dun sa puwesto nila. Nabibilhan naman sila, gusto nila gitna nang gitna, sinasalubong nila mga tao, pupunta kami sa dulo pagbalik meron na naman, anong gagawin naming?” Duenas said.
The raiding team will return the products if the vendors will promise not to commit the same violation.
