MGI 2021 4th runner-up Miss South Africa was absent during the media tour despite her win.
MISS SOUTH AFRICA – Miss Grand International 2021 crowned fourth runner-up Jeanè Van Dam not included in the media tour due to this.
23-year-old Nguyen Thúc Thuy Tien of Vietnam was the winner in this year’s Miss Grand International pageant which was held in Thailand. This is the country’s first-ever golden crown at the international pageant. The other winners tailing her:
- 1st runner-up: Andrea Victoria Aguilera, Ecuador
- 2nd runner-up: Lorena Goncalves Rodrigues, Brazil
- 3rd runner-up: Vivianie Diaz Arroyo, Puerto Rico
- 4th runner-up: Jeane Van Dam, South Africa
Following the grand finale, the winners went on a media tour but pageant enthusiasts were quick to notice that 4th runner-up Jeane Van Dam of South Africa was absent from the celebrations. Regarding her exclusion, she opened up about the matter and shared that she is actually “heartbroken” about it.
Accordingly, the reason behind her absence is that she was immediately allowed to return without being told that winners are requested to appear in one of the TV shows in Bangkok.
In an Instagram, she shared these facts:
- The night after crowning I went to a member of the team asking her whether I should change my ticket to stay in Bangkok.
- She told me that I can go home the next day and there is no need to stay.
- SO the reason for my return was NOT my countries borders or Covid19. I returned because I was told to do so.
Aside from being heartbroken, she is also devastated by the fact that she was not able to join the “once in a lifetime opportunity” and the new sisterhood bond.
Meanwhile, the country’s Samantha Panlilio had an early exit from the pageant which saddened a lot of people because she accordingly did well during preliminaries.
