CEO Apologized After Firing Over 900 Employees in Zoom Meeting

An American CEO has issued an apology after laying off over 900 employees in a single Zoom, which earned criticisms from the netizens.

During this time of pandemic, many people have lost their jobs due to the negative impact of the health crisis to the global economy. The pandemic leaves employers with no choice but to reduce workers to sustain the business.

Online mortgage originator Better.com head Vishal Garg earned massive amount of criticisms online after firing over 900 workers over the video streaming platform. The incident happened last week.

“if you are on this call, you are part of the unlucky group being laid off, Your employment here is terminated, effective immediately.” Garg said.

The CEO explained that the dismissal of employees was due to the changes in the market. He also expressed his remorse for the way he delivered the announcement of laying employees.

“I failed to show the appropriate amount of respect and appreciation for the individuals who were affected and for their contributions to Better. I own the decision to do the layoffs, but in communicating it I blundered the execution. In doing so, I embarrassed you,” the boss added.

The US boss has also expressed his regret saying those words and firing employees as a part of his job “this is the second time in my career I’m doing this, and I do not, do not, want to do this. The last time I did it I cried. This time I hope to be stronger.”
