Sorsogon Gov. Chiz Escudero Speaks on Pres. Duterte’s Senate Bid
CHIZ ESCUDERO – The Sorsogon Governor revealed his side on the possibility that he will vote for Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte as a senator in 2022.
The Election 2022 is drawing near and several incumbent politicians are running for a certain position in the next poll. One of them is President Rodrigo Roa Duterte who is running for senator under the ruling party PDP-Laban Cusi wing.
Initially, Pres. Duterte was the vice-presidential bet of his political party. He accepted the nomination but, during the period set by the Commission on Elections (Comelec) for the filing of candidacy, he did not file his candidacy for vice president. Instead, he announced his retirement from politics.
According to Pres. Duterte, he will retire from politics and just go home to Davao City to prepare his defense against the International Criminal Court’s (ICC) probe on his administration’s campaign against drugs.
During the period when substitutions were allowed, Pres. Duterte decided to run for senator and substituted a senatorial candidate under the PDP-Laban Cusi wing. His bid gained different reactions from the people and as well as some aspirants in the Election 2022.

Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, Sorsogon Gov. Chiz Escudero said that before he will decide on whether or not he will vote Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte as a senator in the next election, he wants to know his stand on certain political scenarios that are happening now as a senator.
According to Escudero, he wants to know if Pres. Duterte will allow whoever will win as president in the next election to bar his or her Cabinet members from attending a Senate session and try to stop probes of the upper chamber. The Sorsogon Governor cited that it is currently happening.
Escudero expressed that his decision on whether or not he will vote Pres. Duterte as senator in the next election will depend on his answer to his question. Also a former senator, Escudero is part of the senate slate of presidential aspirant and Vice President Leni Robredo and presidential aspirant and Sen. Ping Lacson.
