Manny Pacquiao is still being bashed for his days of absence when he was a congressman
Senator Manny Pacquiao addressed those politicians who are reviving the absenteeism issue against him now that he is running for president in the 2022 elections.
Pacquiao started his political career when he was elected congressman of Saranggani in 2010. At that time, he was still active in his boxing career.
While serving as a representative, Pacquiao received criticism when his poor attendance in congress was revealed. This issue is just one of those things being thrown at him as a public servant. In 2016, he joined the senatorial race.
Just recently, this was revived as he is aiming for the highest position in the Philippine government. During an interview on DZMM TeleRadyo on Wednesday, the Senator said that this issue resurfaced because his detractors has nothing to throw against him.
“Wala kasi silang pambato sa akin, panira sa akin nung absent ko nung congressman pa lang po ako. Nung time na ‘yun, busy ako sa pagbibigay ng free housing doon sa probinsiya,” Manny Pacquiao explained.
He also pointed out that before criticizing him, people should know the laws that he was able to pass. He also challenged his detractors to present evidence about the number of absences in the Senate.
He calls those politician who are reviving this issue as “pretentious genius”. “Alamin nila ilang batas ang napasa ko at ilan ang absent ko nung ako ay senador. Ginagamit lang po nila yan dahil wala silang panira para sa akin. Ganun talaga mindset ng mga gunggong na pulitiko at pretentious genius na mga politicians kasi may mga vested interest sila sa gobyerno,” he said.
Meanwhile, in the same interview, Manny Pacquiao was asked about his wife Jinkee Pacquiao’s social media posts. The Senator said that his wife just wants other people to be inspired to also work hard as they could achieve a higher status in life.
