Lucy Torres Shares Kindness of Bongbong Marcos During Calamities in Their Area
Leyte 4th District Representative Lucy Torres-Gomez shared how former Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. helped them.
The congresswoman described how the presidential candidate assisted them a few years ago despite the fact that he wasn’t required to do so. She remarked in an interview with SMNI news that she shouldn’t be so harsh after seeing how Marcos supported them after typhoon Yolanda hit their city.
Marcos, according to the congressman, is one of the most reviled leaders in recent decades. However, it appears that when he traveled to their house to help their people, she saw the former senator in the opposite light.
“I give you a concrete example, and I don’t know if BBM remembers this, but back when Yolanda happened, he was not part of the administration but one very first to help Ormoc was BBM and his family,” said Lucy.
“And through Irene, according to Lucy Torres Gomez, BBM sent Ormoc clean water and a gadget from some foreign company for clean water and she remember going to the different barangays, um, demonstrating how that is used and then having access to clean water at a very crucial time, that’s one,” she added.
When the Ormoc earthquake struck in 2017, Marcos supposedly performed the same thing. Despite losing his bid for vice president, the former senator continued to assist them.
“If you really looked at it, if you look at the dynamics, you had just lost an election. You didn’t make it back in 2016 but you were the first to be on the ground after the earthquake happened. You were with Cong Martin and Cong Anton Lagdameo, they were both colleagues at that time. You don’t have to be there but you were there and you helped the community,” Lucy said.
“I just want to say that more than what you say, more than what the plans are, what the grand plan is, it is really what you do on the battlefield as the battle rages on, the soldiers on the ground are suffering. So I think that speaks more about a leader than all the nice words or all the nice plans,” she added.
