John Lapus is a self-proclaimed Marites
Actor-comedian John Lapus professed that he is the “original Marites” and here is the reason why he said this.
John has been in the entertainment industry longer than most people know. Throughout the years of his work in showbiz, he has already done several projects on TV and was featured in many movies as well.
Aside from being an actor, John has ventured into directing as well. However, it was revealed that even before he became an on-cam talent, he already did several jobs behind the camera.
During one of the recent episodes of Eat Bulaga’s Bawal Judgemental, John Lapus was one of the choices. The question was who among the choices were working behind the camera before they became on-cam talents.
When John, also known as “Sweet” in showbiz, revealed that he has done quite a lot of jobs behind the camera. “Ang una kong trabaho sa showbiz ako ay researcher, sa awa ng Diyos na-promote bilang head researcher, segment producer, tapos along the way naging talent coordinator, pictorial director, promo specialist, ang last position ko ay creative associate producer ng isang showbiz-oriented talk show,” he revealed.
In that one show, he did the said positions expect being an “executive producer, makeup artist, at caterer.” When asked about the things he researched, he said that he literally researched “chismis”.
“Nagreresearch talaga literal ng tsismis…yes original marites,” John Lapus shared. It was in 2000 when he started doing on-cam stints until 2018.
The actor-comedian and now director also shared that he is a hotel and restaurant management graduate from the Pontifical University of Santo Tomas. However, he was part of the Teatro Tomasino, the university-wide theater guild of UST where he met his co-actors who were already in showbiz. When he graduated, he was recommended for a job in his former home network.
