The past accusations against Kris Aquino resurfaced
Former chief justice Maria Lourdes Sereno warned the public to refrain from accusing actress-host Kris Aquino of “stealing” the jewels of former first lady Imelda Marcos without proof.
Based on the report from Inquirer, old rumors against the former presidential daughter resurfaced on social media. Several netizens revived the said accusation against Kris. Through the Facebook post of Serena, she warned the accusers that they may face a criminal case.
“Criminal case na po ang maaaring harapin niyo sa pagbibintang na ginamit ni Kris Aquino ang alahas ni Imelda na ayon sa Supreme Court ay galing sa nakaw na yaman. Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas at PCGG (Presidential Commission on Good Government) na po ang nagsabing imposible ito,” the former chief justice posted on November 27.
She added that from the time of her posting, they will take screenshots of comments and posts saying the accusations against the actress-host. This will include that information about the netizen. “Kaya’t iipunin na po namin ang mga screenshots ng ganitong mga comments at ipadadala sa kinauukulan,” Sereno said.
Reportedly, Kris already slammed this accusation against her back in 2016. Through her Instagram post, she stressed that there was no truth in the rumor and she explained that her necklace from Italian jewelry brand Bottega Veneta was bought from her hard-earned savings.
A year before that, PCGG gave an assurance to the public that the Marcos jewelry collections are safe in a vault. With this, it would be impossible for anyone to still the jewels.
Meanwhile, Kris Aquino is now preparing for her “tiny wedding” with fiancée former DILG Secretary Mel Senen Sarmiento. The actress-host revealed last month that she is set to tie the knot with the one she calls “the better man”.
