Sara Duterte Claims PDP-Laban Rejected her request to Support Tandem w/ Marcos

Mayor Sara Duterte Reveals She sought PDP-Laban’s Support for Tandem with Marcos Jr.

SARA DUTERTE – The presidential daughter and Davao City Mayor claimed that PDP-Laban rejected her request to support her tandem with former Senator Bongbong Marcos.

After several processes including substitutions, the tandem of former Senator Bongbong Marcos Jr. and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte for the Election 2022 is now official. The former Senator is gunning for the presidency under Partido Federal ng Pilipinas which tapped the presidential daughter as the candidate they will support for vice president.

Mayor Inday Sara withdrew her candidacy for re-election in 2022 and resigned from her regional party, Hugpong ng Pagbabago. She joined the national party Lakas-CMD and substituted its vice presidential bet.

According to the Davao City Mayor who previously sought understanding from her supporters saying she wants to finish three (3) terms as mayor, the opportunity to run for vice president was a chance for her to meet her supporters halfway. Many are calling for her to run for a national position even after she has filed her candidacy for mayor in 2022.

Ruling party PDP-Laban, the political party of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, previously clarified amid speculations that Mayor Inday Sara will substitute their bets that she is not running under their party so they are not considering her for substitutions.

Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, Mayor Sara Duterte revealed that she sought the support of PDP-Laban for her tandem with former Sen. Bongbong Marcos Jr. However, the Davao City Mayor claimed that her request was not approved by the ruling party.

PDP-Laban is fielding its presidential bet, Sen. Bong Go. Previously, he was set to run for vice president but he quit the vice presidential race when he knew that the presidential daughter would be running for the same position. It was Pres. Duterte who stressed to him that he take the presidential race since the slot in their party is open. The 76-year-old President has also pledged his support to the Senator.
