Roque Set To Run For Senator According To PCOO Undersecretary

ROQUE TO RUN FOR SENATOR – Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque is set to run for Senator in the 2022 elections.

For the longest time, Roque had been contemplating a Senatorial run. Previously, the spokesperson tried to his shot at a Senatorial seat but failed every time.

Now, after being the reliable mouthpiece of President Duterte, Roque sees a shot. According to Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Undersecretary Queenie Rodulfo, Roque would run under the People’s Reform Party (PRP) this Monday.

Furthermore, Rodulfo said he is scheduled to file his COC at around 2:00 p.m. Additionally, Roque needs to have a substitute for another candidate who already filed his/her COC.

Before, Roque said that he would only run for Senator if Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio would pursue the Vice-Presidential post in 2022.

During his campaign period for an International Law Commission (ILC) in New York, people pushed for Roque to have his nomination nullified. This led to Roque saying that he’d run for Senator to prove that he has supporters. Moreover, he said that he would no longer be bullied by his critics.

The PRP had previously announced that Roque was expected to be part of its Senatorial slate. However, Roque said he wouldn’t give his decision until he talked with President Duterte and Davao Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio.

The People’s Reform Party (PRP) was founded in 1991 by late Senator Miriam Defensor Santiago. Back in 2016, Santiago ran for the highest seat in the Philippines. Unfortunately, tragedy hit, and the Senator became ill.
