SM Mall of Asia’s iconic globe was reportedly “stolen” on Saturday night. The incident caught the attention of the netizens.
Some social media users assumed that it is only a gimmick while some say it will be replaced by a big ball. There’s a dashcam video circulating that a helicopter allegedly “lifting” the huge globe.
SM MOA immediately released an official statemen regarding the matter on its Facebook page. They wrote: “SM Mall of Asia is currently working with authorities in investigating the MOA Globe incident. With our security measures in place, rest assured that the SM Mall of Asia continues to be a safe space for your family and friends.”

Based on a report from Manila time, the “stolen” MOA globe was part of a promotional trailer for the Netflix film “Red Notice.” The American action comedy film stars Gal Gadot, Dwayne Johnson, and Ryan Reynolds.
A 59-second video was posted on the popular streaming platform’s Facebook page on Sunday. The video gives clues on who “stole” SM’s iconic globe. It further revealed that the globe is back.
“You may or may not have missed the biggest con while you were sleeping. I know who did it, and the Red Notice is out for them,” Netflix wrote in the caption.
The gigantic globe is currently boarded up with scaffoldings. Pasay City police clarified reports and said it was not stolen but is only undergoing repair.
