Iconic Globe at MOA in Pasay City Has Been Stolen

MOA GLOBE – SM MOA’s iconic globe was stolen on Saturday night. A netizen shared a video showing the globe being being stolen by someone riding a helicopter.

The SM Mall of Asia is one of the largest malls in the Philippines. It was owned by the late Chinese-Filipino billionaire businessman Henry Sy.

In 1946, he opened a small shoe store in Manila that eventually grew in to an empire. The Sy family own 72 shopping malls that serves 3.5 million customers a day.

Pinoy netizens woke up to a shocking news that the iconic Globe at MOA in Pasay City has been stolen. It has been the symbol of the huge mall since it opened in 2006. They wonder how it was stolen considering how big that is and is placed on a busy road.

Lots of netizens shared photos of an empty center island with the iconic MOA globe disappear. Some assumed it is only a gimmick. They said it will be replaced by a big ball featuring a popular brand.

Many netizens believe it was stolen by a helicopter. There’s a dashcam video circulating that a helicopter allegedly “lifted” globe right from where’s its been standing for the past 15 years.

Mall of Asia said they are working with authorities in investigating the incident. They posted this on their FB page.

“SM Mall of Asia is currently working with authorities in investigating the MOA Globe incident. With our security measures in place, rest assured that the SM Mall of Asia continues to be a safe space for our family and friends.”

CNN shared some updates about the incident on its Twitter page. The phoos shows tall scaffoldings covered with plywood surround the area where the globe is located. Check out the photos below:
