A young man is claiming that his father is Richard Yap
Kapuso star Richard Yap reacted to the claim of Joshua Paolo Jensen saying that he is a son of the I Left My Heart In Sorsogon actor.
The 24-year-old from Bacoor Cavite filed a petition for “compulsory recognition of natural child” or “acknowledgment of paternity and affiliation” at the Regional Trial Court in Cebu City, based on the article in PEP.
In an interview, Joshua said that he has been trying to contact Richard but the actor is ignoring him. He also claimed that his mother told him that the actor is his father when he was just 10 to 12 years old. Back then, Richard was just doing commercials.
Joshua also claimed that after his mother’s ultrasound, the actor just disappeared. He also said that he is ready to go through DNA test just to prove his claim.
Richard Yap strongly denied this. In an interview by Cebu Daily News, the actor said in Bisaya that in his 10 years in showbiz, it is just now that his “alleged son” surfaced. The actor also questioned who is behind Joshua’s claim.
Richard said that apparently this bad publicity came from his political opponent. “She went live and that’s what she said. So this has all been planned from the start,” Richard said about a former councilor who is now running for congressman, the same position he is running for next election.
Reportedly, he is referring to Prisca Niña Mabati. despite Richard did not mention her name, she is the only one who is also running for representative. Mabati denied her involvement in the issue but challenged the actor to undergo DNA test.
With this statement of his opponent, Richard Yap asked her why she’s so eager about this as if she is the mother. Regarding Joshua’s claim, the actor stressed, “I have never seen him, met him, talk to him ever since. Just wondering where he took me to be his father.”
The legal counsel of the actor also released a statement about this issue. “For now, Mr. Yap assures the public and his supporters that there is no truth to such claim and that, he places his confidence in our justice system in threshing out the TRUTH in the days to come,” a part of the statement said.
