Netizens Asks “Bakit Bawal Sa Sementeryo Pero Ok Sa Dolomite Beach?” As All Saints Day Approaches
BAWAL SA SEMENTERYO – Due to the pandemic, families are not allowed to visit cemeteries in fear of spreading COVID-19.
However, last Sunday, thousands upon thousands visited the controversial Dolomite Beach of Manila Bay. Despite the masses of daily visitors allowed to enter, it appears as no social distancing or health protocols are followed, say netizens.
Because of this, authorities said they are formulating new protocols to address the sheer number of visitors. For now, children under 12-years-old are not allowed to visit the beach.
Additionally, officials are eying to close off Dolomite Beach on the weekends. But, authorities are still deliberating on their final decisions.
Meanwhile, netizens on social called out how the government allows people on the dolomite beach but not in cemeteries. One Redditor posted:
Currently, the Philippines has yet to approve face-to-face classes. Furthermore, the MMDA has closed-off cemeteries to the public starting October 29 until November 2.
