Duterte Reveals Bato Is Nervous over ICC Probe – “Sabi ko, wag ka mag-alala…”

DUTERTE – President Rodrigo Roa Duterte revealed that Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa is getting nervous over the ICC investigation.

One of the presidential aspirants in the Election 2022 is Sen. Bato dela Rosa. Undeniably, his bid came as a surprise to a lot of people. He filed his Certificate of Candidacy (COC) for president a few hours before the closing of the period set for the candidacy filing.

The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) set October 8, 2021 as the deadline of the filing of candidacies. According to the former Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief turned Senator, he received a call from his party, PDP-Laban Cusi wing, at 3:00 p.m. about the candidacy for president.

Dela Rosa was told that he is the choice of his party because he can continue the legacy of Pres. Duterte. However, his move sparked speculations of a possible substitution.

According to Sen. Bato dela Rosa, if he wins president in 2022, he will allow the International Criminal Court (ICC) to set foot in the Philippines and observe but not to investigate the anti-drugs campaign of the Duterte administration. He stressed that it is an insult on the judicial system in the country.

When he announced his decision to retire from politics, the 76-year-old President expressed that he will just go home to Davao City and prepare his defense to the investigation of the ICC. Sen. Dela Rosa was the PNP Chief during the first years of the term of the President.

Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte expressed that Sen. Bato dela Rosa is getting nervous over the ICC investigation. According to him, he assured the former PNP Chief that he must not worry as he will take responsibility over his administration’s campaign.

However, based on the report, the 76-year-old President stressed that he is willing to go to prison if it would be a Filipino court that will sentence him and a Filipino judge who will be giving the verdict. According to him, he is willing to go to jail and there are many penal colonies in the country.
