DOLE Says PH Employers Have Right To Reject Job Applicants Without Vaccine

NO VACCINE NO JOB IN PH – According to Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III, employers retain the right to reject unvaccinated applicants.

During an interview with ABS-CBN, the Labor Secretary said: “Because before a person is employed, there is no employer-employee relationship. As to whether you can be employed, that’s the privilege of the employer“.

Amid the coronavirus pandemic, several debates regarding the issue have been discussed across the globe. While most wouldn’t hesitate to get vaccinated, some believe that they also have the right to choose not to get the shot.

According to Bello, the no vaccination no job issue could be the same as wanting to hire somebody with a “pleasing personality”. He explains that an employer could simply reject an applicant who doesn’t have a pleasing personality, as such, the same could be applied when it comes to vaccination.

Currently, the Philippine Government’s COVID-19 task force enforced a protocol stating that all employees/workers of establishments allowed to function in areas under alert level 3 should be fully vaccinated vs the new coronavirus.

  1. It shud not be enforced! A person still has the absolute right over his body as to whether or not to get the shot ir not , anyway vaccinated or unvaccinated can still infect anybody if they have the virus, whats d difference anyway? the govt. can only issue a waiver as to whether a person choses not to get vaccinated, and at the own risk of the individual and will not blame the current administration or govt.regarding the virus infection, because if its your time to go, it will be your time, nobody can stop that.

  3. That is discrimination. Comparing it to having a pleasing personality is ridiculous. People have the right to their health esp if the vaccine only harms them. You will only make people more hungry because of this. B more considerate. Sec. Bello you are not thinking
