Bongbong Marcos reacted to the online survey that Rappler conducted
Social media news company Rappler allegedly manipulated the result of its presidential online survey for 2022 presidential candidates and this received a reaction from former Senator Bongbong Marcos.
In the said survey, certain reaction emoticons were assigned to specific presidential aspirants. Based on the article in Manila Bulletin, the “wow emoticon” was for Marcos, the “heart” was assigned to Vice President Leni Robredo, Senator Ping Lacson got the “like” emoticon, while the “care emoticon was assigned to Manila Mayor Isko Moreno.
Reportedly, netizens, supporters of Bongbong Marcos claimed that the online poll was manipulated after he posted a video on TikTok showing that he checked the number of each emoticon got. Robredo was already 161,000 while Marcos only had 87,000 as what was shown in the video but upon counter-checking pages, the “wow emoticons” recorded more numbers than the “heart emoticons”.
Because of this, supporters of BBM including vloggers Kasangga Jay and Maui Becker slammed Rappler. The camp of Bongbong Marcos stated that the social media news site already deleted the post and has apologized. “Rappler also apologized to angry netizens and explained that the survey had to be taken down since it was not aligned with their objectives,” the statement from BBM’s camp stated.
Following this, the presidential candidate asked his supporters to give chance to Rappler despite what happened. “Those behind the manipulation of a simple exercise to get the voters’ pulse on the 2022 presidential race might have been overwhelmed by their desire to accomplish whatever mission assigned to them… so let’s give them another chance to find honesty in their heart,” the son of former President Ferdinand Marcos said.
