Senator Ronald ‘Bato’ dela Rosa filed his certificate of candidacy for president and he was asked what if Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte will replace him.
On October 8, the last day of filing of COC, dela Rosa surprised many when he declared his intention to run for president under PDP-Laban, the party in which President Rodrigo Duterte belongs. Under the same party, Senator Bong Go filed his COC for vice president a few days ago.n Friday, supporters of Sara Duterte kept on hoping that she will file her COC for president even though she already filed for reelection. She also reiterated that she is presenting herself to Dabawenyos for her final term as a mayor.After dela Rosa’s filing of COC, he was asked what if he will be replaced by the Davao City Mayor. Based on the report in Inquirer, the Senator said that that would be much better.
However, he stressed that he is serious about running for president. “Eh di mas maganda? But this is a party decision, this is not my personal decision. Kasi kung ako lang ang masusunod, kung papatakbuhin nila ako, tatakbo pa rin ako,” the lawmaker said.
Dela Rosa also admitted that the Davao City Mayor has not joined PDP-Laban yet. He and the supporters of the administration have been urging Sara Duterte to run for president. With this, the Senator said that he does not know yet how the substitution will happen if ever it will take place.
“Hindi (siya member). I don’t know how we will do it kung gano’n ang mangyari. I don’t know. Basta ako tatakbo talaga ako para maging presidente,” he said.
Then, when a reporter asked if this is not mockery of the electoral process of the country, the Senator said that it was an insulting question. “Is it a mockery to the 19 million Filipinos who voted for me as a senator of this republic? Napaka-insulto naman na tanong ‘yon? ‘Di ba?” he said.
