P2.4-M Illegal Plant Bricks Exposed from SUV During an Accident in Kalinga
Police authorities seized P2.4 million worth of illegal plant “Maryjane” bricks from an SUV allegedly involved in an accident in Kalinga.
The discovery occurred when a Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) was apparently involved in an accident in Barangay Bado Dangwa, Tabuk City, Kalinga, according to the Kalinga Police Province Office (KPPO). The Toyota Fortuner was traveling from Upper Kalinga to Tabuk City’s center, according to KPPO Provincial Director PCol. Davy Vicente Limmong.

The vehicle suddenly crashed on the curvy part of the road in Bado Dangwa, according to Limmong. The Fortuner collided with a motorcycle driven by Adrian Pangiditan, 18, of Bantay, Tabuk City, which occupied the vehicle lane, leading it to travel straight and crash into the side of the road.
When authorities arrived at the scene, the Fortuner’s driver had vanished, leaving blocks of suspected dried “Maryjane” leaves exposed. The dried leaves were wrapped in newspaper, according to the article.
The P2.4 million worth of marijuana bricks seized totaled 20 kilos and 400 grams. Based on the documentation recovered inside the vehicle, police identified the owner as Fernando Maccay, a resident of Buscalan, Tinglayan, Kalinga.
Meanwhile, during a buy-bust operation in Quezon Province, authorities nabbed a construction worker for peddling illegal substances. After obtaining information that the suspect was selling illegal substances, Sariaya police began a buy-bust operation against him.
After selling a pack of crystal meth to a poseur buyer, the 49-year-old narcotics suspect was detained. The police also seized four sachets of illegal substances with a street market value of P9,408.
