The now-deleted post of Binibining Pilipinas went controversial
Binibining Pilipinas received criticism from netizen after it has shared a post which appeared to be a “patutsada” against Miss Universe Philippines.
Formerly, the Miss Universe franchise was under the management of Bb. Pilipinas Charities Inc. However, in 2020, the Miss Universe Philippines Organization was established and the first pageat outside BPCI was held.
Just recently, the social media account of Bb. Pilipinas shared a photo of Miss International Philippines 2021 Hannah Arnold with the caption, “Naturaaaaaal woman.” Based on the article in Bandera, netizens thought that this post was shady and it appeared to be an attack against Miss Universe PH 2021 Beatrice Luigi Gomez who is a proud member of the LGBTQIA+ community.
To recall, it is not the first time in MUP. Last year, fourth runner-up Billie Hakenson proudly revealed also that she is a member of the LGBTQIA+ community.
Reportedly, a netizen has this reaction to the said post of Binibining Pilipinas: “Now I see why MU had to break away from this organization. How do you hone this kind of culture and claim you groom an “empowered” woman? Wake up Binibining Pilipinas, it’s 2021.”
In an Instagram post of Entertainment News Portal, Hannah Arnold apologized for that said post of BPCI’s social media account. She said that she honestly did not know what was in the minds of the people behind the social media account when they thought that it was an “acceptable caption”.
He stressed that it was not acceptable and that she and the members of Binibining Pilipinas are not tolerating this. Hannah Arnold also hoped that this has not offended anyone. “Please know I’m here to listen if you need and truly believe there is beauty in diversity,” she added.
