The filing of candidacies for the Election 2022 is fast approaching and the Filipinos are eager to know the final list of the candidates in the upcoming political bid. Some incumbent politicians have already announced their intent to run for national posts in the next election.

The filing of candidacies’ deadline is October 8, 2021. The period for voter registration is set until September 30 but there are calls for extension.

The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) previously expressed that it might not afford a one-month extension for the voter registration as requested by the Senate and the House of Representatives. Meanwhile, it assured the public that the poll body is not deaf to the calls of the people and will consider the possible scenarios if an extension would be implemented.

Most of those who expressed their intent to run for president in the Election 2021 are incumbent politicians. Recently a labor leader, Ka Leody de Guzman, accepted a nomination of a political party for president.

Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, Ka Leody de Guzman was nominated by Partido Lakas ng Masa (PLM) in an online convention. According to him, it is important that political leaders will walk their talk and those that were not done must be done.
