FB Group “Online Kopyahan” Reportedly Used to Cheat on Online Learning Tests

FB Group “Online Kopyahan” Goes Viral After Used to Cheat on Online Learning Tests and Exams

The Facebook group “Online Kopyahan” goes viral for being allegedly used to cheat on online learning tests and exams.

The Department of Education has expressed its concern after learning that the Facebook page is being used to get a high score on online examinations and quizzes. The members of the group were sharing photos of test papers and questionnaires with answers on various subjects.

Education Department Undersecretary Diosdado San Antonio has expressed his concern regarding the incident because it does not help the students but make them lazy instead. Students would just copy the answers from each other.

“Nakakabahala po, hindi po nakakatulong sa ating ginagawa na ang mga bata ay kailangang binibigay ang kanilang mga efforts para matutuo at hindi po puwedeng mangongopya lamang,” Antonio said.

The agency has requested the Facebook to deactivate the page because it only hinders students to learn and makes them lazy instead. The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) is also monitoring “Online Kopyahan” including other social media pages.

NBI Cybercrime Division chief Vic Lorenzo said that they would investigate the incident. He also expressed his concern because it compromises the test questionnaires of teachers.

Quezon City Public School Teachers Association president Kristhean Navales has also expressed his disappointment because the cheating method remains the same but it was just shifted online.

“’Yung iba din na walang sagot, sine-share nung ibang mga bata sa kanila. Siguro mas naunang makapag-check itong section na ito at nai-share nila,” Navales said.

The Alliance of Concerned Teachers is thinking to change the distance learning system and modules so there won’t be online cheating.
