Grade 1 Student Ends Up Crying While Answering Modules Due to Its Difficulty

The video footage of a grade 1 student crying because of the difficulty of answering her modules elicits comments online.

The Facebook page “GMA News” has shared the video footage of a grade 1 student named Alex crying out loud after experiencing hardship in answering her learning modules. The video goes viral online.

Rodgeville Ferrater, the young girl’s mother explained that Alex is struggling to understand and comprehend ‘Mother Tongue’ because she was used to the English language. The instructions and sentences are too long, which make it more difficult for her to understand.

“Ang language ng modules na ginamit ay Tagalog, mayroon ding Bisaya. Filipino language kasi, nahihirapan siyang intindihin. Englisg kasi ang pinapanood na movie, Mass naiintindihan niya ang English language. So, sa mother tongue natinm, nahihirapan siyang i-comprehend” Ferrater said.

Eventually, the child stopped from answering her modules and cried after experiencing difficulties with her learning modules. The girl stressed out that she doesn’t want to answer it anymore.

The girl’s mom also found errors with the modules and advised the producers to simplify the sentences and proofread the materials before printing out and distribution.

The Department of Education has received a lot of complaints from both parents and students who found errors in the learning module. The agency also apologized for the errors and promised to address the issue.

“Makatawa na man lang ko ani oi. Didnt expect would go this far. So to clear things, kanang long paragraphs na quoted sa segment, thata for my grade 5 student (grade 5 module) and yes very ambiguous/incoherent ang statements. And I think its too much for a grade 5. Taas ra kaayo ang gipanghatag na modules for 5 days work. Im not whining. The post was just a part of my daily fb posting, twas making fun with my lil girl and making fun with what we are doing at home. Not intended to create misunderstanding. But hopefully DepEd will improve the proof-reading/editing of modules prior to printing and distribution. I know we are all not ready with this and I understand. Just looking forwars for improvement. As a parent I am trying my best pod to give the best learning sa akong mga bata. And I, thank u
