Yburan took over the steering wheel of the jeepney after grabbing three cellphones and cash. However, Yburan was unable to properly operate the jeepney, causing it to collide with other vehicles.
The accident drew the attention of the cops, who approached the vehicle to learn more about Yburan’s crime. The suspect’s knife was seized and he was apprehended, while the stolen cash and cellphones were returned to the passengers, who are considering filing charges against the suspect.
While Yburan was being caught, one of the passengers assaulted him. Yburan, who was handcuffed at the police station, said he needed the money for his ailing child.”Wala na rin po akong magagawa eh,” he said.
Meanwhile, Hermosa Police Community Precinct Police Major Joseph Himenez warned anyone who might be involved in a holdup situation to avoid fighting the perpetrator because it is too dangerous. He advised them to make their demands first and then ask for assistance if they had the opportunity.
“Bigay na lang kung ano puwedeng maibigay na hinihingi, then kung may pagkakataon na makahingi ng tulong, makasigaw,” he added.
