Pacquiao Ready To Run as Independent Candidate, Munsayac Says

Munsayac Speaks About Sen. Pacquiao amid the Political Issues

PACQUIAO – Ron Munsayac, an ally of Senator Manny Pacquiao, claimed that the Senator is ready to run as an independent candidate.

Undeniably, there are a lot of issues in the political arena most especially nowadays that the next election is fast approaching. One of the issues involves the PDP-Laban, the ruling party and the political party of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte.

It is no secret to the public that there is currently a faction in PDP-Laban. One of the parts is the wing of Sen. Manny Pacquiao and the other part is the faction of Energy Secretary Alfonso Cusi. Currently, the ruling political party has yet to announce its final standard-bearer in the Election 2022.

Sen. Manny Pacquiao has yet to confirm whether or not he is running for president in the next national bid. He recently lost in a boxing fight with Cuban boxer Yordenis Ugas. Right after the fight, he was asked about his plans for next year.

According to the boxer-turned-senator, he will be deciding next month and he will still seek the advice of his wife, their children, and some people whose opinion he would seek over the matter.

However, currently, there are two (2) pending Sworn Information Update Statements (SIUS) filed before the Commission on Elections (COMELEC). One was from the Cusi wing while the other was from the faction of the boxer-turned-senator. The election body will have to decide which of the two (2) SIUS to honor.

Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, Sen. Manny Pacquiao is ready to run as an independent candidate in case his wing will not have the right to issue a CONA or the Certificates of Nomination and Acceptance. It is needed to run under a political party.

According to PDP-Laban Pacquiao wing official Ron Munsayac, the boxer-turned-senator has a strong principle and he will run independently in case their CONA won’t be honored. He stressed that there are several political parties that are ready to support Pacman.

Meanwhile, Mansuyoc clarified that the boxer-turned-senator will not be joining or running under other political parties.
