Fate of Metro Manila MECQ Given Verdict by Malacañang
METRO MANILA MECQ – Malacañang announced that the Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine measure in Metro Manila is extended.
The Philippines, like many countries across the globe, is still in a battle against the COVID-19 pandemic. It has been more than a year now since this very challenging situation took place and rocked healthcare systems around the world.
In PH, the whole country remains under community quarantine measures as part of the continuous pursuit to arrest the spread of the COVID-19. Sadly, the virus mutated and several new variants were recorded in the different nations.
The Delta variant which was first recorded in India was also logged in the Philippines. According to the Department of Health (DOH), there are local transmissions of the said variant in the country and they are eyeing possible community transmission. The health department noted that many cases have no longer links to each other.
Previously, Metro Manila and several provinces including Laguna and Bataan were placed under Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) for two weeks. A spike in the cases was noted and Delta variants were recorded prompting the national government to place the capital region under the strictest quarantine measure.
