Angel Locsin Challenged By The “Discrimination” She Experienced In Showbiz
ANGEL LOCSIN – Kapamilya actress Angel Locsin admitted feeling discriminated when she was just young in the Philippine showbiz industry.
Filipina actress, commercial model, film producer, and entrepreneur Angel Locsin rose to fame after portraying the role of Alwina in GMA-7’s tv series ‘Mulawin.’ Tv series ‘Darna’ (2005) is considered her most memorable and highest-rated series of all time.
The 36-year-old actress has been a household name for quite some time now. Aside from her great acting skills, she’s admired because she helps in relief efforts for typhoon victims and coronavirus (COVID-19) patients.
Aside from dominating the small and big screens, Angel Locsin was also hailed as FHM’s se*iest woman in the world twice. Her long-time fans will always remember the days when she was the cover of every local magazine from MEGA, Cosmopolitan, and FHM.
Recently, the actress shared with the public the discrimination that she experienced when she was just young in the showbiz industry. She admitted this in an interview with Fil-Italian actor Matteo Guidicelli’s MattRuns podcast.

Angel Locsin said there are lots of people who underestimated her acting capability in the past but instead of quitting, she used all the criticism in a positive way then improved herself to reach her goal. During that time, she was still trying to get a job that would help her become known.
She said prior to entering showbiz, she would only audition for commercials since entering the entertainment business was the furthest from her mind. When she did enter the showbiz industry, she said she gave herself a deadline of 2 years then she would quit. She said she only wanted to save enough money for the operation of her dad.
“Dapat two years lang ako sa showbiz. Yun lang kasi ang deadline ko. Mag-iipon lang ako, papaopera ko tatay ko,” she said.
Unfortunately, when Angel did save enough money for the operation of her father, the doctor told her that the eyes of her dad cannot be operated on anymore. She said, “Medyo na-lost ako. Parang wala akong purpose. Hindi ko alam ano gagawin.”
The actress said she decided to continue her work in the industry even though there are times that she feels she’s being discriminated against. She said her acting skills is constantly being looked down.
“And then na challenge ako, kasi parang di ko alam kung naranasan mo yung, minsan may bullying… O minsan may parang discrimination, o ganyan.”
“Na challenge lang ko na parang, Okay, pakita ko na kaya ko. ‘Yun lang,” she added.
